Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how the Mneme application ("Mneme," "we," or "the app") handles information on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. It applies to the Mneme application and these official support pages. It does not govern third-party services you choose to use.

2. Information you add to Mneme

Mneme stores the information you choose to record. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:

• Names, nicknames, profile impressions, favorites, colors, circles, and tags.
• Contact details, work, location, personality, interests, stories, promises, and other custom profile attributes.
• Relationship links, connection notes, interaction dates, topics, summaries, follow-up ideas, and closeness settings.
• Photos you select, photo captions, and dates you assign to those photos.
• Reminder titles, notes, dates, completion status, saved searches, and display preferences.

This content may describe other people. You are responsible for entering and using it lawfully and respectfully, and for avoiding unnecessary sensitive information.

3. On-device processing and insights

Mneme calculates relationship graphs, compass placement, memory completeness, contact recency, care suggestions, shared-interest groups, potential connections, and similar insights on your device. The current version does not send profile content to an external artificial-intelligence service or developer server for analysis.

4. Local storage and private iCloud sync

Mneme uses Apple's SwiftData framework to store data in the app's sandbox. When iCloud is available, SwiftData may synchronize that data through your private CloudKit database between devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Sync availability depends on your Apple Account, device settings, network connection, storage availability, and Apple's services.

Private CloudKit records are associated with your Apple Account. Mneme does not copy them to a developer-operated database, and the developer does not have application-level access to browse your private relationship records. Apple processes iCloud data under its own terms and privacy policies.

5. Photos

Mneme uses Apple's system photo picker when you choose an avatar or profile photo. The app receives only the items you select. Selected images are resized and re-encoded before being stored with the profile, which removes unnecessary original metadata. Mneme does not scan your photo library or upload selected photos to a developer-operated server. Photos stored in Mneme may participate in private iCloud synchronization described above.

6. Notifications and reminders

If you create a reminder, Mneme may ask for notification permission and schedule a local notification using Apple's notification system. The notification can contain the reminder title, note, or person name and may appear on the Lock Screen according to your system settings. If permission is denied, the reminder remains available inside Mneme without a system notification. Completing or deleting a reminder removes its pending notification when possible.

7. Preferences and system status

Mneme stores preferences such as language selection locally using Apple application preferences. The app may check iCloud account availability and notification authorization status to explain whether synchronization and alerts are available. These checks do not send relationship content to us.

8. Sharing, selling, advertising, and tracking

Mneme does not sell personal data, use relationship data for advertising, track you across apps or websites, or include third-party advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs. Mneme does not request App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not perform tracking.

9. Retention and deletion

Your data remains on your devices and, when enabled, in your private iCloud database until you delete it or remove the app's data through Apple system controls.

• Deleting a person removes that profile and its associated attributes, interactions, photos, relationships, and reminders from Mneme.
• Settings → Clear All Data removes people, interactions, photos, relationships, circles, tags, saved filters, and reminders.
• When iCloud sync is active, deletions are expected to synchronize to your private CloudKit database and other signed-in devices.

Apple may retain limited backup or service data according to its own policies and system behavior.

10. Network access and third-party services

Mneme's optional iCloud synchronization uses Apple services. The current version does not otherwise require an external service to analyze your relationship data.

This policy and the support pages are hosted by GitHub Pages. If you visit this website or submit a public GitHub issue, GitHub may process account details, technical information, and the content you provide under the GitHub General Privacy Statement. GitHub website activity is separate from the Mneme application.

11. Children's privacy

Mneme is a general productivity application and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal data from children through developer-operated services.

12. Changes to this policy

If Mneme's data practices, permissions, synchronization behavior, or third-party services change, this policy will be updated before or when the relevant app version is released. The date at the top identifies the latest revision.

For privacy questions or product support, visit the Mneme Support page or open a support request on GitHub. GitHub issues are public. Do not include names, contact details, private photos, relationship notes, reminder text, or other sensitive information.
