PortGlance is a local system status and localhost URL inspection utility. The app performs inspection on your Mac by default. It does not require an account, does not show ads, does not include third-party analytics SDKs, and does not upload CPU, memory, network, local URL, or browser tab information to a developer server.
The app reads local system status, network speed, and thermal state, and uses short-timeout network requests to check whether common localhost URLs are reachable. This powers the menu bar panel and suggestions. This version does not read Docker information or project paths, and it does not stop or control processes.
Resource ranking reads visible apps and related child processes on this Mac, including app names, process identifiers, CPU time, memory usage, and estimated heat contribution. This helps you understand which apps may be contributing to load. This information is calculated and displayed on-device only. It is not uploaded, sold, or shared with a developer server or third parties.
If you enable “Read Safari / Chrome Tabs” in Settings, the app can read browser tab URLs after macOS grants Automation permission. This is used only to check whether localhost, 127.0.0.1, or local-network pages are still open in the browser. Browser linking is optional; turning it off or denying permission does not affect localhost URL checks.
The app uses UserDefaults on this Mac to store preferences, language selection, display options, and trust or ignore rules that you create manually. Opening addresses, copying URLs, trusting services, and ignoring services are all actions initiated by the user.
You can revoke Safari or Chrome Automation permission in System Settings at any time, and you can turn off browser linking in PortGlance Settings. If you have questions about this policy, contact the developer through the support channel listed in App Store Connect.
